Over the course of four weeks, Lowell Youth Leadership Program hosts 180 Lowell youth ages 10–16 for a fun, enriching summer experience at no cost to families. Campers participate in daily swim lessons along with a wide range of activities including sports, financial literacy, leadership classes, conflict resolution, art, healthy relationships, and robotics - all taught by professionals in their field. In 2025, more than 7,000 meals were served to campers, junior counselors, and counselors in our free breakfast and lunch program. Bus transportation is provided to and from Greater Lowell Technical High School, where the camp is held.

The program also emphasizes career exploration and civic engagement. Older campers take part in a career day featuring hands-on exposure to a variety of disciplines.  2025 Career Day opportunities included civic engagement at the State House; communications at Emerson College; nursing and robotics at Middlesex Community College and UMass Lowell; engineering at BAE Systems; a mini police academy with the Lowell Police Department; and culinary arts with YouthBuild Culinary. In addition, LYLP hosted its first-ever LYLP elections for “Camper Ambassadors,” fostering leadership and civic participation. Beyond the summer session, a one-week post-camp leadership class is offered to junior counselors, allowing them to earn one college credit. LYLP also runs 4 “re-connect” one day mini camps throughout the year to keep campers engaged and active.

“I seek to be the very best version of me.

I will put forth my best effort in all activities and support my group members.

I will be a building block for this legacy of leadership”
